The famous saying goes, "never work with animals or children."
While both can be cute, cuddly and provide stellar entertainment value, they also have a knack for going rogue . Painfully so, sometimes.
Just ask Donal Skehan's dad.
Food writer and photographer Donal recently relocated to Los Angeles from Dublin with his wife Sofie and their dog, Max.
During a family holiday in San Francisco with Donal's parents, the group decided to commemorate the occasion with a lighthearted jumping shot outside the city's famous painted ladies.
This is what happened.
Excitable young Max apparently loves Donal's dad so much, he chose to express it like, well, this.
"Puts a whole new meaning on 'crotch shot!' Does anyone have any ice?" Donal added on Facebook .
It may be every man's worst nightmare to have his crown jewels clamped in a dog's slobbery, toothy jaw, but you have to admit - it does make for a brilliant image.
Happily, no one was hurt in the making of it.
Donal later added: "Thanks for all the concern on the last photo after #crotchgate - I can safely report that Max and Dad are still best of pals - my dad would like it pointed out that he was wearing low crotched shorts and that Max has a very gummy bite and that the family jewels are all still in tact!
"The Christmas cards are gonna look great this year- Family photo gold!"
